Forgotten Wing — Parlor Route Walkthrough

The Forgotten Wing is Blue Prince's second ending. It's reached not by drafting Room 46, but by following a chain of Parlor riddles, a Day-7 Chapel bell sequence, and a one-way garden door that closes behind you. The route is shorter than Room 46 in raw distance but harder in scheduling: it requires the Chapel on Day 7 or later, plus the Parlor in at least five separate visits over the run.

Quick reference: Solve five Parlor riddles (SMOKE, ECHO, PIANO, MIRROR, KEY) → survive to Day 7 → match the Chapel bell sequence short-long-short-short → cross the garden door north of the Chapel. The ending cutscene fires on the next room's first step.

Why Take the Forgotten Wing Instead of Room 46?

Three reasons:

  • Different lore. The Forgotten Wing reveals the western family branch — letters and portraits that never appear on the Room 46 route.
  • Unlocks the Wing Key. A save-file item that opens any "wooden" door for free on later runs.
  • Achievement. "Second Son" requires the Forgotten Wing ending specifically.

You will not get the True Ending from the Forgotten Wing alone — see the Crown of Mt. Holly guide for that path. The Forgotten Wing is a step toward 100%, not a shortcut.

Route at a Glance

Stage 1: Five Parlor Riddles

The Parlor offers one riddle per visit. The riddles are randomized in order but the five answers are fixed across all saves: SMOKE, ECHO, PIANO, MIRROR, KEY. See the Parlor riddles page for the wording of each.

You need all five. The Parlor caps at one per day, so a minimum of five separate visits over the run.

Don't re-answer wrong. A wrong answer locks the Parlor for that day and the next. Read the riddle, check the page, then answer.

Stage 2: Day 7 Chapel Draft

The Chapel is a Common-tier room (~14% draw chance per day). Most runs see it three to four times before Day 7. The Day-7 visit is the one that matters — earlier visits only play the daily plaque rotation (see Chapel page).

If Day 7 ends without a Chapel draft, you have to stretch the run to Day 8 (which is harder — sleep cost rises sharply). Plan ahead: by Day 5, if you haven't drafted Chapel at all, start prioritizing Hallway → Chapel paths in every layout.

Stage 3: The Bell Sequence

On Day 7, after entering the Chapel, look at the back wall — the daily plaque is now in a different font. That's the cue. Pull the bell ropes in the order:

SHORT — LONG — SHORT — SHORT

"Short" = quick pull and release. "Long" = pull and hold for two seconds. The bells ring out, the west wall slides aside, and a passage to the garden opens. If you miss the timing, the bells reset — you have two more tries before the Chapel locks for the day.

Stage 4: The One-Way Garden Door

The passage leads north into the western garden. Walk west until you reach a door marked with the family crest. This door is one-way. Crossing it commits to the Forgotten Wing ending — there is no return on this run.

Past the door:

  1. A short corridor with three family portraits. Walk past — they don't open.
  2. The Forgotten Wing parlor. Sit in the chair. The ending cutscene fires.

The Wing Key is awarded to your save file on cutscene end. Next run, the wooden door north of the Chapel opens free.

Three Common Mistakes

  • Drafting Chapel too early and "spending" it. Each Chapel draft is independent — drafting on Day 3 does not block the Day-7 sequence. But you can over-tune the plaque if you mis-pull on Day 3 (the plaque becomes "scratched out" and Day 7's sequence skips by one). Solve the Chapel's daily plaque cleanly or not at all.
  • Bedding before crossing the garden door. Solving the bell sequence is not the ending — only the door crossing is. If you bed after the bells, the wall closes overnight.
  • Spending five days on Parlor without progress. Use Day 1–2 for general resource collection. Start the Parlor chain Day 3 once your Step pool is stable.
