Start hereBlue Prince launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 3, 2026 — the same day as the console itself. It was announced as a surprise closer at Nintendo's Indie World showcase and arrived as a digital eShop title at $29.99 USD. A physical cartridge edition is coming later in 2026. Patch 1.7, which added major accessibility features, reached Switch 2 players in May 2026.
Blue Prince was released for Nintendo Switch 2 on March 3, 2026, the same day as the Switch 2 console launch. It is available on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99 USD / £24.99 GBP.
The release was a surprise announcement — Nintendo saved it as the "one more thing" at the end of the Indie World showcase before the Switch 2 launch. Developer Dogubomb and publisher Raw Fury confirmed the simultaneous digital launch with no prior announcement.
Boutique publisher iam8bit confirmed a physical Switch 2 edition of Blue Prince. Crucially, it will not be a Game-Key Card — the game will be on a full game cartridge. A release date within 2026 was indicated, with details to follow.
iam8bit previously produced two physical editions for the PlayStation 5 version of Blue Prince, so collectors should watch their announcements for the Switch 2 release.
The Switch 2 version of Blue Prince supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. Place a Joy-Con flat on a surface and it acts as a mouse, letting you interact with rooms, documents, and puzzle items via point-and-click. This is optional — you can also play with standard analog stick controls.
Mouse mode works particularly well for:
Patch 1.7, the dedicated accessibility update, first rolled out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch 2 version received Patch 1.7 in May 2026, including all features from the main release and the 1.7.1 hotfixes.
Patch 1.7 added colorblind display modes. Several of Blue Prince's puzzles rely on color differentiation (including the Parlor three-boxes puzzle and certain gem types), so this was a frequently requested feature. The options cover the main colorblind types.
Every action in Blue Prince can now be rebound to any button. This applies to Switch 2's full controller layout. Previously the controls were fixed — a significant barrier for players with motor accessibility needs.
For players who struggle with or prefer not to use motion controls, the Motion Assist option adjusts how motion-based inputs are handled. This is separate from Joy-Con mouse mode — it affects tilt and gyro inputs used in certain interactions.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Invert Stroll | Reverses the movement direction when strolling through rooms, for players who prefer inverted input |
| Cursor Style | Multiple cursor appearances to improve visibility against different room backgrounds |
| Button Remapping | Fully rebind any action to any button or stick direction |
| Colorblind Mode | Adjusts palette for common colorblind types |
| Motion Assist | Modifies gyro/tilt sensitivity and behavior |
The core game is identical across all platforms. The Switch 2 version adds Joy-Con 2 mouse mode as a platform-exclusive input method. There is no exclusive content — all puzzles, rooms, endings, and lore are the same on Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
