Blue Prince Dartboard — How to Score 180

The Dartboard puzzle in the Game Room asks for one thing: score exactly 180 in three darts. That is the maximum possible — three triple-20s, no margin. The game does not let you aim freely. Instead, you commit to a sector and a hidden skill check resolves whether you hit. The fix is to spend Coins. With one Coin per dart, the hit rate jumps from ~30% to ~95% and 180 becomes near-guaranteed.

Solution: All three darts at the triple-20 sector. Spend 1 Coin per throw (3 Coins total) for the steady-hand buff. Reward: the Marksman's Pin item.

Dartboard with triple-20 hit zone T20 (60) Triple-20 × 3 = 180. Bullseye is only 50. Spend 3 Coins for the steady-hand buff.

Bullseye (outer)25
Bullseye (inner)50

Notice that bullseye is only 50 — strictly worse than triple-20. New players assume the bullseye is the highest because it is visually centered, but the math doesn't support it. Triple-20 is the only sector that lets three darts add to 180.

Why You Spend Coins

Without Coins, selecting "triple-20" only gives roughly a 30% chance of actually landing in the triple ring. The dart drifts and you usually score 20 (the base wedge) instead of 60. Three drifted throws averages around 60 total — well below the 180 win condition.

Spending 1 Coin before a throw activates the steady-hand buff. The icon glows gold. Hit chance on the selected sector jumps to roughly 95%. With all three darts buffed, the probability of all three landing triple-20 is approximately 0.95³ = 0.857 — call it 85% per attempt. If you fail, you can retry the next day.

Cheaper variant — 2 Coins, accept the risk: If you only have 2 Coins, buff the first two darts. You enter dart 3 with 120 already on the board. A free dart 3 still has a ~30% chance to land triple-20. Expected score: 120 + 30 = 150 — not enough. Two Coins are not sufficient. Save up.

Step-by-Step

  1. Check Coin balance. You need 3 Coins minimum. The Game Room has no Coin shop, so bring them with you.
  2. Walk to the throw line. The game opens the target-selection menu.
  3. Dart 1: Select triple-20. Click the steady-hand icon (1 Coin consumed). Pull the throw lever. Confirm result: 60.
  4. Dart 2: Repeat. Triple-20, 1 Coin, throw. 120 total.
  5. Dart 3: Repeat. Triple-20, 1 Coin, throw. 180 total. Game Room door unlocks. The Marksman's Pin appears on the throwing-line table.

The Marksman's Pin

The Marksman's Pin is the Dartboard's only reward. It is a permanent item that sits in your inventory once collected. Its effect:

Marksman's Pin: Once per run, you may open the Vault without entering the 4558 code. The Pin is not consumed — it refreshes every new run.

This is useful in two cases:

  • Speedrunning. Skipping the Vault code saves 30–40 seconds on the Vault interaction screen.
  • Day-1 Vault clears. If you draw the Vault on day 1 but haven't read the three letters, the Pin lets you grab the deed paper without the code prerequisite.

The Pin does not interact with the Antechamber's Master Key. Carry both freely.

Common Mistakes

  • Aiming for the bullseye. Only 50 per dart. Three bullseyes = 150. Math fails.
  • Not buffing all three darts. Two-Coin attempts mathematically average 150. You need three Coins.
  • Spending Coins after the throw. The buff only applies to the next dart, not the previous one. Click the icon before pulling the lever.
  • Trying again same-day after failure. The Dartboard locks for the rest of the day. Wait until tomorrow.

Dartboard FAQ

What is the target score? Exactly 180. The puzzle accepts no other value.
Can I aim freely? No. You select a sector and the game resolves hit chance with a hidden roll.
How many Coins do I need? 3 total. One per dart. Two is not enough.
What does the Marksman's Pin do? Once per run, opens the Vault without the 4558 code.
Is the Dartboard required for Room 46? No. It is optional. Best used for speedruns or as a Vault-code skip on rough days.
